Firstly HOGISM (History of Guernsey in Sixty minutes) a play that I produced, directed and devised last year (details here http://hogism.blogspot.com ) entered a new phase, touring schools.
Three things needed to happen. Firstly I had a mad rush to replace one our original actors. Then rehearse the new actor into the role and dust off our own cobwebs and lastly put together a teacher pack with useful info from the research and explanations about some of the ideas in the play.
All that happened in the first two weeks of the year. I couldn't have asked for a better replacement. Vanessa not only picked everything in record time but managed to bring fresh energy and ideas to her roles. Such a pro.
And the second big thing has been Baby Art Club. Guernsey has signed onto the 1001 days manifesto and as part of that the Guernsey Arts Commission put out a notice to local artists from all disciplines to apply to run a Baby Art Club for 0-2 years old. I jumped at the opportunity and offered a improv based idea (the possibilities seemed endless) January was filled with research, ordering materials and making and planning workshops. (Separate blog to follow about this experience as I go!)
Of course there's always my old faithful Improv. Guernsey Improbables are set to return to the Performing Arts Centre this year. I made the decision (after a difficult time with audience numbers dwindling because we were trying to put on the show every month) to spread the shows to every two months. Make people wait for their dose of Comedy and mayhem. And as an added bonus after the fantastic workshop that I had last year there are already heaps of people clamouring for another one so I may bow to popular demand and run the course again. Watch this space or any space just not myspace, I'm not there.
So here's 2016.
